In General The EXPLORER POST is the third unit of the Scouting Group, equal with
the Cub Pack and the Scout Troop.
An Explorer Post may also operate under the Local or Regional
Scouting Authorities, if the conditions for operation under individual Scout Groups are not met.
Teenagers (boys and girls) that have reached the age of 15, are not older
than 18 and are students of at least the First Grade of Lyceum can enter the Explorer Post.
The members of the Explorer Post are called EXPLORERS.
Teenagers aged 15-17 that have not previously been Scouts can also become Explorers.
A teenager that enters Scouting for the first time, has to give the Scout Oath in order to become
and be named an active member of the Soma Hellinon Proskopon.
The education that the Scout System offers at the Cub and
Boy Scout branches is being completed in the Exploring branch. This is achieved by means of intensive
exploration of natural environment and social life and offering services to the society in order
for the Explorers to develop their moral, mental, physical and social abilities so as to form their
characters and to become responsible Greek citizens, useful to the Country and the Society.
Structure of the Explorer Post
Each Explorer Post consists of 6 to 24 Explorers and is
directed by the CHIEF of the Explorer Post and one or two DEPUTY CHIEFS that are called
LEADERS. If the Explorer Post has more than 24 members, there can be one more Deputy Chief.
Operation of the Explorer Post, the Synod
The Explorer Post is administered by the Explorer Post SYNOD,
which all Explorers and Leaders attend.
The Explorer Post Synod is held tactically each month or more often
and deals with planing and evaluation of the activities, with Explorers's progress, with the apportionment of
appositenesses and with the formation of Work Groups.

Operation of the Explorer Post, Work Groups For the organization and preparation of each particular activity of the Explorer
Post, the Synod forms transient WORK teams named GROUPS that consist of 3 to 6 Explorers.
The WORK GROUPS are formed depending on the interests of the
members of the Post. Each Work Group selects one of its members as the responsible that
coordinates the operation and also acts as a liaison with the Chief and the other Leaders in order to advance
the Group's work. After the end of the works, the Work Group's validity is discontinued.
Operation of the Explorer Post, Actions
The individual activities of the Explorer Post, taking place weekly or
more often, are called ACTIONS. The Actions of the Explorer Post are characterised by intension,
extent and content depending on the teenagers' interests and capabilities.
More specifically, the Actions of the Explorer Post, cover the topics
of the six following Explorer Activity Fields which also serve as guidelines for
planning the Action Schedule:
- Education and Democracy
- Social Solidarism
- Culture
- Exploration of the Nature
- Quality of Life
- Career
The Actions of the Explorer Post are carried out in a body
(Explorer Post Actions) or in individual teams (Work Group Actions) or even in a one-person basis
as is the case with the Amateurish Craftsmanships or activities associated with the Scoutcraft Workshops.
The in-a-body Actions of the Explorer Post are planned by the Synod
whereas the individual by the interested Explorer, according to the Annual Goals of the Post, the educational
goals of the Leaders and the personal goals of each Explorer.
